Overview & Important Info
This converted deserted home of Karakul sheep farmers is remotely situated in south-western Namibia, on the stunning NamibRand Nature Reserve. It lies about 110 km south of Sossusvlei accessible in a normal 2x4 vehicle. The Hideout is simply yet comfortably equipped for self-catering groups of up to 10 people. Three private Campsites for up to 8 people each are nestled a kilometre away in the dunes, out of sight of each other, and with own ensuite ablutions. One campsite is fully wheelchair accessible. Solar energy is used for lighting, water pumping and heating. Enjoy the spectacular views over the vast plains and ancient blue mountain ranges, set out on foot or by 4x4 into the glowing red dunes for a close encounter with the fascinating variety of Namib Desert fauna and flora. The kids will love the dune-boarding and endless open spaces. Both the house and the campsites boast a small water-hole just a few metres away, attracting a myriad of birdlife and wildlife. The exceptional surroundings and clarity of the air provide endless opportunities for photography by day and stargazing by night. Guided drives, walks and short 4x4 self-drive trail are available. A portion of your overnight costs goes towards the conservation of this unique and fragile environment.
